The 100 Black Men of London
is an organisation of professional men who want to help the youth
and their community. We are men who have achieved some business or
personal success, or are striving to achieve that success. We strongly
believe that through our collective efforts and experiences, we can
make a difference.
All members give their time and efforts voluntarily
and currently are experiencing great personal satisfaction in seeing
how these efforts are positively impacting on the young men and women
on our programmes.
I
feel privileged to have the opportunity to make a difference to the
life of a child and my community. I am also privileged to be amongst
a growing team of committed professional Black men & women, who
feel as strongly as I do and are concerned enough to act to make a
difference.
For far too many talk loudly of their intentions
and aims but their actions make as much noise as an early Charlie
Chaplin movie.
My question to all those who say they are concerned
with the issues facing our youth and community today is a simple one
- are you concerned enough
For when you are concerned enough your rhetoric
turns to action... your thoughts and ideas become tangible programmes
and your time becomes less of an obstacle to your participation.
The 100 Black Men of London believe that the seeds
of greatness in our youth when fostered can grow into immense possibilities
and self-fulfilment; we truly believe that our children are the legacy
to the future.
It is this same belief, compounded by commitment
and determination that has brought the 100 Black Men of London to
where it is today. I am proud to be associated with a group of committed
men who exemplify that the caring Black man is real.
As we look forward to the future we also reflect
on the past, for history has taught us many things not least that
the many have for far too long benefited from the actions of the few.
History has shown us that even a small but committed
group of people can make a difference in this world... indeed it is
the only thing that ever has.
What we can achieve as a collection of minds and
bodies that make up the 100 Black Men of London depends on what we
believe we can achieve as an organisation.
I believe anything is possible when you spend "less
time making the possible seem impossible and more time making the
impossible - possible."
With the continued determination shown by the members
and the continued support of the community, we will continue to strive
to be agents for change effecting change in ever-changing times.
